Salerno is famous for its Artist’s Lights which every year, from November to February, attract millions of visitors.
They are spectacular: the city lights up on myriads of small lights that draw starry skies, flowers, trees. Each alleyway leads to a surprise and you can never see them all. In the ‘Secret Garden’ fairy tales are told through lights, from Peter Pan (there is also Big Ben!) to Alice in Wonderland.
And this year they also installed a ferris wheel.
I walked among these lights, the night of the Immaculate Conception, and I fell in love countless times.

Fall in love.
Fall in love with anything continuously.
Feel excited in the presence of glimpses, objects, situations. So your life will be a continuous first date, with all the attached feelings and crystalline happiness that only lovers have. If you feel them for everything, life would be a wonderful love story with the world.
Happiness can be many and genuine, any pretext is right to fill our hearts.

Even the smallest light, in pitch darkness, is enough to feed the strongest hope.
I was thinking about this while I was in intensive care unit and every day heard new and different values of Mom’s platelets, of her globules, of her body temperature, of her pressure. A continuous extraction of numbers without winnings in the lottery, yet I managed to feed on almost nonexistent hopes, tiny lights in the darkness of reality.
I was ready for the worst, but I expected the best.


Yet life follows paths unknown to us, keeping up with it is the only choice not to get lost.
Believe it or not, everything that happens is a necessary and desired thing, because it serves to take us somewhere.
Whether you believe or not in fate, everything that happens is a necessary and deliberate thing, because it needs to take us somewhere. As if they were bridges, every adversity is a bridge to reach the other side in our growth. You don’t go on without crossing bridges.

Life is so ephemeral, we live to be able to get excited. Don’t even waste a breath.

Salerno è famosa per le sue Luci d’Artista che ogni anno, da Novembre a Febbraio, attirano milioni di visitatori.
Sono spettacolari: la città si accende su miriadi di piccole lucine che disegnano cieli stellati, fiori, alberi. Ogni vicoletto conduce ad una sorpresa e non si riesce mai a vederle tutte. Nel ‘Giardino Segreto’ vengono raccontate le fiabe attraverso le luci, da Peter Pan (c’è anche il Big Ben!) ad Alice nel paese delle Meraviglie.
E quest’anno hanno installato anche una ruota panoramica.
Passeggiavo tra queste luci, la notte dell’Immacolata, e mi sono innamorata un’infinità di volte.

Innamoratevi.
Innamoratevi di qualsiasi cosa, continuamente.
Sentitevi emozionati alla presenza di scorci, oggetti, situazioni. Così la vostra vita sarà un continuo primo appuntamento, con tutti i sentimenti annessi e le felicità cristalline che solo gli innamorati provano. Se voi le provaste per ogni cosa, la vita sarebbe una meravigliosa storia d’amore col mondo.
Le felicità possono essere tante e genuine, qualsiasi pretesto è giusto per colmarcene il cuore.

Anche la luce più piccola, nel buio pesto, basta ad alimentare la speranza più forte.
Pensavo a questo mentre ero in rianimazione e ogni giorno sentivo nuovi e diversi valori delle piastrine di Mamma, dei suoi globuli, della temperatura corporea, della pressione. Una continua estrazione di numeri senza vincite alla lotteria, eppure io riuscivo a nutrirmi di speranze quasi inesistenti, minuscole lucine nell’oscurità della realtà.
Ero pronta al peggio, ma mi aspettavo il meglio.

Però la vita segue cammini a noi sconosciuti, starle al passo è l’unica scelta per non smarrirsi.
Che crediate o meno al destino, tutto quello che succede è una cosa necessaria e voluta, perché serve a portarci da qualche parte. Come fossero dei ponti, ogni avversità è un ponte per raggiungere l’altra sponda nella crescita. Non si va avanti senza attraversare ponti.

La vita è così effimera, viviamo per poterci emozionarci. Non sprecatene neanche un respiro.
